a bit about us...
We are a 'crew' of researchers, photographers, web designers and general
enthusiasts for the ferries and the way of life they bring to the unique
archipelago of islands around Scotland. We each share a passion for the
services they provide and the stunning scenery they operate in, some of the
most stunning in the word...
As with the previous Ships of CalMac site we mainly set this website up to gather
information about the vessels and companies so that the information was here all
in one place.
We aim
to keep Ships of the North an ongoing project, to collect information
not only on the vessels that ply the Northern Isles, but the way of
life they bring with them so that in this ever changing world, a
piece of history is not forgotten…We receive
tens of emails weekly from people and contacts updating us with news, past crew members, stories, pictures
and more which will hopefully continue with this new site.
Lastly, please be patient while we are updating unfinished pages from
there basics, this may take some time but we will get there! As always, if
you have something to contribute, suggest or even correct us on, please
don't hesitate to contact us via the link above.
