After its marathon journey from the Philippines, which was beset by mechanical problems, causing a long stay in Oman, Pentland Ferries' new catamaran, MV Pentalina finally arrived in St Margaret's Hope on Tuesday morning.
The owners, Andrew and Susan Banks, of Pentland Ferries hope the purpose-built ship will be ready for service before Christmas.
Work will now begin replacing flooring which was buckled by a longer than anticipated spell in the heat of Oman, and berthing trials will have to take place before the vessel will begin service.
The trials will take place at the piers in St Margaret's Hope and Gills Bay, in Caithness, to make sure the vessel's maiden trip goes ahead without a hitch.
